Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have actually been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47 was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have actually gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
